THE CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUERsaid, the Registrar of Friendly Societies had to revise the rules of savings-banks, but he had no concern with their tables. Those tables were prepared by the actuary of the Savings-Banks Department, and submitted by the direction of the Statute for the approval of the Lords of the Treasury, and the approval of the Lords of the Treasury was then published in the London Gazette. That was the course which had invariably been followed.
