§ SIR JAMES GRAHAMI wish, Sir, to ask the First Lord of the Treasury whether Her Majesty's Government has come to an agreement with the Government of Denmark respecting the commutation of the Sound Dues; and whether Parliament in the present Session will be invited to provide the sum necessary for such commutation?
§ VISCOUNT PALMERSTONSir, Her Majesty's Government have for a long 840 time been in communication with the Danish Government, and other Governments of Europe, on the subject of the Sound Dues. No arrangement has yet been come to on the subject; but I hope that some arrangement will shortly be made, and in that case we shall have to submit to Parliament the provisions necessary for carrying that settlement into effect.
