HC Deb 31 July 1974 vol 878 c222W
Mr. Gorst

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if any changes in procedure have been introduced within the Independent Broadcasting Authority since the appointment of one of its staff as managing director of a radio contractor; whether the authority's staff are now required to seek permission from the IBA before applying for employment with one of its contractors; and whether the IBA now requires its staff to resign from their appointments before seeking such alternative employment.

Mr. Alexander W. Lyon

The IBA tells us that it has clarified the procedure which covered the recent appointment of a senior member of its staff as managing director of a programme company, to the effect that senior staff should consult the authority before accepting appointments in certain related fields. The IBA's staff are not required to seek permission nor to resign before applying for employment with one of its programme contractors.
