HC Deb 31 July 1974 vol 878 cc216-7W
Mr. David Steel

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will give a general direction to the Post Office to deliver election addresses without carrying the name and address of the elector.

Dr. Summerskill

My right hon. Friend has no power to give such a direction. Under Section 79(1) of the Representation of the People Act 1949, the postal delivery of election material is left to the Post Office to regulate.
