asked the Minister of Fuel and Power whether his attention has been drawn to the quantities of hard coal, brown coal and electrical power exported from the Ruhr to France, Belgium and Holland during the 18 months ended 31st December, 1946; whether any attempt is being made to secure some hard coal from the Ruhr for use in the United Kingdom; and whether river and sea transport can be arranged.

I am aware of the exports to which the hon. Member refers. As regards the second part of the Question, the whole of the existing coal export available from the Ruhr is already allocated through the European Coal Organisation to European importing countries.
