HC Deb 04 May 1909 vol 4 c1022W
Mr. J. P. FARRELL

asked the Chief Secretary on what grounds Laurence Diffley, of Begnagh, No. 598 on the pension register of the Ardagh sub-committee, has been deprived of his pension; whether he is aware that this man's gross rental is only £4 5s. a year and that he is 77 years of age; and will his name be restored to the list?

Mr. BIRRELL

The pension officer raised the point that the claimant's income exceeded the statutory limit of £31 10s. per annum, and on appeal being made to the Local Government Board they upheld that view. The statements in the second' part of the question are substantially correct. It is not open to the Board to reconsider their decision.
