HC Deb 04 May 1909 vol 4 cc1022-3W
Mr. DEVLIN

asked the Chief Secretary whether he could state what steps, if any, had been taken to carry out the recommendations of the Belfast Health Commission?

Mr. BIRRELL

The recommendations of the Belfast Health Commission were so varied and complex that it is impracticable to give a general answer to this question which would accurately cover all details. The corporation dealt with certain matters pending the issue of the Report of the Commission, and have put other matters in train since its issue. The Local Government Board, moreover, after considering the reply of the corporation to the Report of the Commission, addressed the corpora- tion on 13th March last with regard to such of the recommendations as did not Appear to have received suitable attention.
