§ Mr. John PattenSpyways is registered with the East Dorset health authority under the Nursing Homes Act 1975. That authority has a responsibility to ensure that the standard of care provided is satisfactory and appropriate. In addition, any local authority that places a child in its care in a residential establishment has a responsibility to satisfy itself that the arrangements are appropriate and that the various statutory requirements governing such placements are complied with.
