HC Deb 21 March 1990 vol 169 c1209
Mr. Vaz

I wish to present a petition on behalf of 105 residents of Leicester who are deeply concerned by the introduction of eye test charges and they correctly say that people are being forced to go without treatment because of these charges. The petition has a sad history because it was collected by Mr. Edwards an optician, who lived at 67 Marston road, Leicester, but who has died since the petition was given to me.

The petition states: Wherefore, your Petitioners pray that your Honourable House encourage the Secretary of State for Health to abolish these charges immediately so that ordinary people may have the proper treatment they deserve.

To lie upon the Table.
