HC Deb 18 June 1990 vol 174 c775
Mr. Bill Walker (Tayside, North)

This is a humble petition of the people of Scotland, and has been signed by about 800 people. It sheweth That the proposals to introduce European Central Time to the United Kingdom will impose upon the people of Scotland a system of time keeping which will take no account of the hazards facing school children going to school in the dark winter mornings or the difficulties faced by farmers, the road haulage industry and commuters when low temperatures create black ice and fog on Scotland's roads. Wherefore your petitioners pray that your Honourable House reject the European Community Proposals to harmonise all of The Community into one time zone. And your petitioners, as in duty bound, will forever pray.

To lie upon the table.
