HC Deb 11 January 1985 vol 70 c1009 9.35 am
Dr. Michael Clark (Rochford)

I have the honour to present a petition from the residents of the Rochford constituency. It is addressed To the Honourable the Commons of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in Parliament assembled. It draws attention to the dangerous nature of the A132 road through Runwell due to its twisty nature and the high speed of a great deal of traffic, including many heavy goods vehicles. The petition states: Wherefore your petitioners pray that the Honourable Members of the House of Commons, the relevant Minister and government department, will take appropriate action to ensure the safety of users of the A132 road at Runwell, and particularly pedestrians by

  1. 1. Constructing a bypass and/or
  2. 2. Establishing a pedestrian crossing near the church, and
  3. 3. Extending the 30 mile per hour limit to Rettendon Turnpike, and
fourthly, by adjusting the sign on the turn to Wickford on the Al27 road so that traffic wishing to go to South Woodham Ferrers on the A130 is no longer persuaded to use the A132.

The petition is signed by the vicar of Runwell church and associated with it are more than 1,000 petitioners. I wish to associate myself with this petition and present it to this House.

To lie upon the Table.
