Before I call upon the Minister of State, Treasury, to move the motion on the Order Paper, I must inform the House that the amendment tabled by the hon. Member for Fermanagh and South Tyrone (Mr. Maginnis) is out of order. It is addressed to section 1 of the House of Commons Disqualification Act 1975, not to schedule 1 — which is the only part of the Act that can be amended under the procedure being followed tonight. The hon. Gentleman cannot, therefore, raise the subject matter of the amendment during the debate.
