HC Deb 25 November 1981 vol 13 cc875-6
8. Mr. Bidwell

asked the Secretary of State for Transport if he is satisfied with the working of the Transport Act 1981.

Mr. David Howell

Yes, Sir.

Mr. Bidwell

How long must the House wait for details of the incursion of private capital into the British Transport Docks Board, which I described in Committee as the activities of a gang of six? When shall we have details of the implementation of this barren, dogmatic Right-wing Tory policy?

Mr. Howell

I think that details of this useful, valuable and commonsense policy will be available to the House some-time next year.

Mr. Iain Mills

Does my right hon. Friend agree that the working of the Transport Act 1981 has resulted in a vast increase in transport at low prices available between, say, my constituency of Meriden in the Midlands and London, through the fleet of inter-city buses?

Mr. Howell

Yes, I do.
