Does he accept that early agreement on a code of guidance is a vital first step towards ensuring, in those few homes where fire precautions are still inadequate, that they 1714 are brought up to standard? Will my hon. and learned Friend ensure that there will be no delay in the consultations on the draft code as soon as it is published?
