HC Deb 12 December 1975 vol 902 c821
Mr. Raphael Tuck (Watford)

With your permission, Mr. Speaker, and that of the House, I beg leave to present a petition signed by 1,200 residents of and workers in the borough of Watford who are concerned at the large waiting lists and inadequate facilities at the Watford General Hospital and distressed that phase 3 of the development plan for the hospital, which was nearing fruition after years of preparation, has now been postponed by the Government.

The petition reads as follows: To the Honourable the Commons of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in Parliament assembled; The Humble Petition of the undersigned ratepayers and taxpayers resident and/or working in Watford and District Sheweth That the health of the nation must have the very highest priority at this time of national crisis. That there are waiting lists of up to three years for entry into the Watford General Hospital which result in an increase in the number of work days lost and a decrease in the efficiency of those managing to get to work in spite of medical difficulties. Wherefore your petitioners pray that the Secretary of State for Social Service implements the scheme for developing the Shrodells Wing of the Watford General Hospital. And your Petitioners, as in duty bound, will ever pray et.

To lie upon the Table.
