§ Mrs. Secretary Castle, supported by Mr. Secretary Ross, Mr. Secretary John Morris, Mr. Joel Barnett, Mr. Brian O'Malley, and Mr. Alec Jones, presented 31 a Bill to replace family allowances with a new benefit to be known as child benefit and, pending the introduction of that benefit, to provide an interim benefit for unmarried or separated parents with children; to repeal paragraph 5 of Schedule 2 to the Supplementary Benefit Act 1966; and for purposes connected with those matters: and the same was read the First time; and ordered to be read a Second time tomorrow and to be printed [Bill 147].
