HC Deb 27 March 1972 vol 834 cc183-4

Forgery of documents, etc.

Question proposed, "That the Clause stand part of the Bill.

Mr. Arthur Lewis

You said, Mr. Mallalieu, that I can raise the question of whether the law is being carried out properly.

The Second Deputy Chairman

Order. The hon. Member may discuss whether it is properly consolidated but not whether the law is being properly carried out.

Mr. Lewis

Can the Solicitor-General assure me that the law is being properly consolidated with regard to Clause 169 which refers to forgery of documents? If proof is given about the forgery of documents under existing law no action is taken. Perhaps the Solicitor-General will assure me action will be taken by the authorities to ensure that the existing law is implemented.

The Solicitor-General

The only assurance I can give the hon. Member, without meaning any disrespect to him, is that Clause 169 accurately consolidates the law. To go beyond saying that would be out of order.

Question put and agreed to.

Clause 169 ordered to stand part of the Bill.

Clauses 170 to 208 ordered to stand part of the Bill.
