HC Deb 28 June 1971 vol 820 cc18-9
14. Mr. Barry Jones

asked the Secretary of State for Wales how many letters of protest he has received concerning the proposed route of the Chester southern bypass in so far as it affects residents of Broughton, East Flintshire.

Mr. Gibson-Watt

My right hon. and learned Friend has so far received 326 such objections.

Mr. Jones

Is the hon. Gentleman aware of the seething discontent, grave apprehension and united opposition of this community to this proposal and to the miserable likelihood of there being motorised bedlam in the village of Hawarden? Will he let justice be done and order a public inquiry?

Mr. Gibson-Watt

Yes.

Mr. Jones

I am grateful for that reply.
