HC Deb 27 July 1971 vol 822 cc208-9
Q13. Dr. Gilbert

asked the Prime Minister how many meetings of the National Economic Development Council have taken place under his chairmanship since 18th June, 1970.

The Prime Minister

Three.

Dr. Gilbert

At the next meeting of the Council at which the Prime Minister is in the Chair, will he take up the question of the increase in unemployment in the West Midlands in particular? Does he now realise that such a state of affairs has been reached under his Administration that what was originally the heartland of British industry is having just as serious unemployment problems as the formerly depressed regions?

The Prime Minister

The House knows that these matters were discussed at the last meeting of the N.E.D.C.
