HC Deb 20 December 1971 vol 828 c1094
10. Mr. Roy Hughes

asked the Secretary of State for Wales if he will now make a Ministerial television broadcast to the people of Wales.

Mr. Peter Thomas

I have no plans to do so.

Mr. Hughes

Does the Secretary of State appreciate that he has a lot of explaining to do to the people of Wales, for example about why the Government are taking milk from children in schools, let alone creating over 51,000 unemployed? Does he appreciate that the style of this Government is so reminiscent of the 'thirties that television would be out of place and that it would be more appropriate if he used the magic lantern?

Mr. Peter Thomas

I give frequent radio and television broadcasts in Wales and I have often explained to the people of Wales the difficulties that we inherited from the previous Administration and the many things that have been done in Wales in the last 18 months.
