asked the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications if he will institute an inquiry into the handling of electoral mail and the installation and servicing of candidates' special telephone lines by the Post Office during the General Election with special reference to delay in respect of the Ilford, North constituency.

Mr. Chataway

No, Sir. I have no evidence to justify an inquiry.

Mr. Iremonger

Then why did it take so long to get our telephone?

Mr. Chataway

I will refer my hon. Friend's very direct question to the Post Office, and ask it to reply to him.
