HC Deb 16 March 1970 vol 798 c33

57. Mr. Kenneth Baker asked the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications whether he will give a general direction to the Post Office to publish the estimated loss that the postal services will make in the present year.

Mr. Stonehouse

No, Sir.

Mr. Baker

Is it not possible that the postal side of the Post Office will this year lose upwards of £30 million, an all-time record? Is the right hon. Gentleman satisfied with this, or will he approve increased postal charges—and if so, when?

Mr. Stonehouse

I am not prepared to speculate on a particular amount. I have already answered a Question on that subject, and have nothing to add now to the reply I gave.
