§ 4. Mr. Probertasked the Secretary of State for Wales what action he proposes to take on the recommendation of the Welsh Council to establish a financial institution in Wales to assist the provision of capital for small firms.
§ Mr. George ThomasAs I explained to my hon. Friend the Member for Monmouth (Mr. Anderson) on 21st October, 1969, I have brought the Welsh Council's report to the attention of other Ministers concerned.—[Vol. 788, c. 921.]
§ Mr. ProbertWould not my right hon. Friend agree that an institution of this kind is essential to supply capital for small firms which the clearing banks would not normally supply and which B.O.T.A.C. itself would not dare countenance? Furthermore, the successes would offset some of the failures.
§ Mr. ThomasThere are all sorts of considerations to which we are giving our urgent attention.
