HC Deb 03 November 1969 vol 790 cc645-6
8. Mrs. Renée Short

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what steps he intends to take to ensure that all women who need it are able to receive family planning advice.

Mr. Crossman

As I have made clear on many occasions, I am taking every opportunity open to me to develop family planning services under the National Health Service.

Mrs. Short

Will my right hon. Friend, therefore, request all local authorities to introduce family planning clinics, and will he make sure that this information is available in all hospitals under the National Health Service and controlled by him?

Mr. Crossman

Every local authority has been told of our urgent request that it should do so and, with one exception, every one has provided a service of a kind. As for hospitals, I regard this as an important issue, and I hope to take action on it in the near future.
