Gentleman aware that the lines of communication with, and the sense of participation by, the general practitioners who are so vitally concerned in this area are totally inadequate? Would he arrange for the hon. Member for Ilford, South (Mr. Arnold Shaw) and myself to discuss with him this problem of the site?
§ Mr. CrossmanI should be delighted to do that. I was at Ilford the other day and I had a long discussion with members of the hospital management committee and the regional hospital board. If the general practitioners wish to make representations through their Members, I shall be delighted to hear them.
§ Mr. ShawMay I ask my right hon. Friend to take the hon. Gentleman's request into consideration? Is he aware of the deep concern in Ilford about the future of the hospital services there?
§ Mr. CrossmanI was made aware of it during the afternoon that I spent there. I realise that there are major decisions to be taken, and I should like local community interests to be fully appreciated when they are taken.
