HC Deb 26 February 1969 vol 778 c1691
4. Mr. Tinn

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food how many members of the Farm Animal Welfare Advisory Committee have informed him that they have an interest in intensive animal husbandry.

Mr. John Mackie

None, Sir. The agricultural interests of the four farmer members were known to us before they were appointed.

Mr. Tinn

I thank my bon. Friend for that reply.

5. Mr. Tinn

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food how many members of the staff of his Department are members of the Farm Animal Welfare Advisory Service.

Mr. John Mackie

There is no farm animal welfare advisory service as such but our 359 veterinary officers in the field are responsible for giving advice on welfare matters to farmers and others concerned with livestock.

Mr. Tinn

I am grateful to my hon. Friend for that reply.
