§ 14. Mr. Maddanasked the Secretary of State for Defence what are the respective percentages of total serving person 396 nel having a General Service Medal in the Royal Navy excluding the Royal Marines, the Royal Marines, the Army and the Royal Air Force, respectively.
§ Mr. ReynoldsI regret that this information is not available.
§ Mr. MaddanIs that not rather a strange Answer? May I ask the Minister if he will take steps to see that it is available?
§ Mr. ReynoldsNo, I will not take steps to see that it is available. It costs a terrific amount of money and man-hours. These medals and clasps to them are being awarded all the time. Sometimes they are not awarded until a person has left the Service, and there is no record of how many people who have had them are still serving.
