HC Deb 17 January 1968 vol 756 cc1754-5
3. Mr. Kirk

asked the Minister of Transport whether she will make a statement about future progress in the planning and construction of the M11.

The Joint Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Transport (Mr. Neil Carmichael)

Consideration of the extension of the route southwards is proceeding. The views of the local authorities on the route as a whole will be sought and considered before a final decision.

Mr. Kirk

When does the hon. Gentleman expect the final decision to be taken? When will he be able to publish the places for the interchanges, since this aspect is causing a certain amount of concern in my area?

Mr. Carmichael

At this stage it is not possible to say when the route will finally be published. There are a number of objections, and discussions are still being carried out. Only when the final objections are resolved will it be possible to answer the hon. Gentleman fully.
