HC Deb 25 April 1968 vol 763 cc469-70
39. Mr. Monro

asked the Postmaster-General if he will continue the practice of selling advertising space in telephone kiosks to taxicab firms.

Mr. Mason

I do not sell advertising space in telephone kiosks direct. It is done through a contractor. I propose to seek an acceptable tender for a new contract later this year. If the contract is let there should be no change in the present practice.

Mr. Monro

Is the Postmaster-General aware that that answer will be very acceptable on many housing schemes, particularly, where people use the booths to call up taxis? Will he bear in mind that this is a very useful social service besides producing revenue?

Mr. Mason

I am well aware of that. This is why we intend to continue it.
