asked the President of the Board of Trade if he will make available an analysis of investment qualifying for investment grant, showing qualifying expenditure in each economic region, and for each economic region the expenditure incurred within development areas.

Mr. Dell

This information will be provided in the Annual Report which will be published later this year.

Mr. Hall-Davis

Does the Minister recognise that investment grant applica- tions can provide a source of valuable information to the Hunt Committee about the level and nature of investment taking place in the districts that it is considering? Will he see how detailed he can make that information and ensure that it is up to date and available in time for consideration by the Hunt Committee before it reports?

Mr. Dell

The hon. Gentleman will appreciate that there is a considerable job of analysis of about 80,000 claims running into many millions of pounds of investment. But I can assure him that the analysis, when published, will go well beyond what he appears to require in his Question.
