§ 21. Mr. Hall-Davisasked the President of the Board of Trade what was the total square footage of new industrial building approved in development areas for each economic region in 1967, the square footage of advance factories completed in each economic region in 1967, and the square footage of those advance factories unlet in each economic region at 1st March, 1968.
§ Mrs. Gwyneth DunwoodyAs the Answer contains a number of figures, I will, with permission, circulate it in the OFFICIAL REPORT.
§ Mr. Hall-DavisWill the President of the Board of Trade consider whether in certain areas of particular difficulty it might be more effective to increase or extend assistance for purpose built factories to individual concerns and make the information known, rather than to put up general purpose factories in the hope that they will suit the requirements of someone who may be looking for an extension?
§ Mrs. DunwoodyThe Board of Trade takes particular care to assist manufacturers who want to go into areas by asking whether we can help them in making tailor-made factories to their requirements. There has been a sharp increase in the number of applications for advance factories and the number of allocations in the last quarter.
