§ 1. Mr. Tudor Watkinsasked the Secretary of State for Wales what proposals he has for consulting local planning authorities in Wales about the proposals contained in the White Paper on Town and Country Planning, Command Paper No. 3333; and if he will make a statement.
§ The Secretary of State for Wales (Mr. Cledwyn Hughes)In accordance with paragraph 50 of the White Paper, my right hon. Friend the Minister of Housing and Local Government and I are consulting the local authority associations about the proposals in the White Paper. We shall be considering their views on how the aims of the Paper can best be achieved. In addition, as indicated in paragraph 21 of the Paper, I shall, in due course, be consulting local planning authorities in Wales about the introduction of the new development plan system.
§ Mr. WatkinsIs my right hon. Friend in a position to say what planning authorities in Wales will be first selected to operate the new system?
§ Mr. HughesI shall first need to consult the local planning authorities and be satisfied that those selected have the necessary staff and resources.
