HC Deb 20 July 1967 vol 750 cc2464-5
45. Mrs. Renée Short

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he is satisfied that there will be sufficient numbers of in-patient beds and outpatient round-the-clock clinics in all regions of the country to deal with drug addicts when prescribing hard drugs may no longer be carried out by general practioners; and if he will make a statement.

Miss Bacon

The regulations on prescribing will not be brought into operation until my right hon. Friend the Minister of Health is satisfied that adequate hospital facilities are available for the treatment of heroin addicts.
