asked the Secretary of State for Defence how many Royal Air Force ground attack squadrons are deployed in Far East command.

The Under-Secretary of State for Defence for the Royal Air Force (Mr. Merlyn Rees)

One, Sir.

Mr. Onslow

Can the Minister explain why Chapter 2, paragraph 15 of the Defence Review suggests that there was more than one?

Mr. Rees

Since that time there has been a withdrawal because of the end of confrontation.

Mr. Goodhew

Can the Minister tell us now whether he will leave one squadron of ground attack Hunters in Aden?

Mr. Rees

We shall have all that is required to carry out what is required in Aden.
