HC Deb 24 October 1966 vol 734 c634
41. Mr. Winnick

asked the Minister of Labour how many trade unions have notified him in the past 18 months that they are unable to secure recognition from employers.

The Minister of Labour (Mr. R. J. Gunter)

Thirty-two.

Mr. Winnick

Is it not disgraceful that trade unions cannot get basic recognition from the employers? Would not my right hon. Friend agree it should be one of the aims of the Government in its industrial policy to make sure that recognition is forthcoming?

Mr. Gunter

As my hon. Friend knows, a mass of information and evidence has been given to the Royal Commission on the matter, and I do not think that we can do any better than await its conclusions.
