HC Deb 30 November 1966 vol 737 c443
27. Mr. Moonman

asked the Postmaster-General if he will make provision for the residents on the Dunton Caravan Site, Brentwood, to have their mail delivered individually instead of by the existing method.

The Assistant Postmaster-General (Mr. Joseph Slater)

Yes, Sir; the new arrangements will start on 5th December.

Mr. Moonman

I thank my hon. Friend for that statement, which will be regarded in the constituency as a victory for common sense. Would he explain the delivery arrangements which will be undertaken and consider further the possibility of an inquiry into other semi-rural and rural areas to see whether the same problem arises because of the archaic system of delivery?

Mr. Slater

As in many other similar localities, this is what is happening. So far as the residents might have to change from Brentwood to Basildon addresses the arrangements in this area are under review and such a change might be found to be necessary.
