asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government if the Royal Commission on Local Government will be invited to consider the desirability of the rural borough provisions contained in the Local Government Act, 1958.

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government whether he intends to appoint any full-time members to the Royal Commission on Local Government.

My right hon. Friend the Prime Minister hopes to make a statement on the Royal Commissions later today.

Mr. Coe

Would my right hon. Friend agree that, if we are setting a pattern for Local authorities for many years to come, this can be done promptly only by full-time members engaged full-time on this task?

Mr. Crossman

I would ask my hon. Friend to await the Prime Minister's statement later today.
