HC Deb 05 May 1966 vol 727 cc1851-2
32. Mr. Edwin Wainwright

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what developments are taking place on research into aircraft fuel emulsification.

Mr. Goronwy Roberts

No research of this kind is being supported by any of the research councils.

Mr. Wainwright

Will my hon. Friend look into this very important matter? Is he aware that in America experiments are taking place whereby liquid put into high octane fuel damps down the flame in the event of a crash? I beg him to look into this question, because it is very important for the aviation industry.

Mr. Roberts

Since my hon. Friend put down this Question I have been engaged on inquiries in fair depth into this matter. So far no research is being undertaken by councils which come within the responsibility of my right hon. Friend, but what my hon. Friend has said will certainly be noted very carefully.
