§ 12. Mr. Berryasked the Minister of Transport if she has yet decided to extend the use of the present experimental priority signs at roundabouts.
§ Mr. John MorrisConsultations on the outcome of the recent experiment are taking place. My right hon. Friend will announce her decision as soon as she can.
§ Mr. BerryWould not the hon. Gentleman agree that there is confusion over the different types of roundabouts, and would he not also agree that this was one of several experiments started by my right hon. Friend the Member for Wallasey (Mr. Marples) which have proved very sucessful? Will he do his best to see that this is made permanent as soon as possible?
§ Mr. MorrisA number of experiments have been conducted and I agree that it is important that there should be some final conclusion. Consultations are taking place, and as soon as a measure of agreement is reached we hope to announce something on these lines.
§ Mr. Ian LloydCan the hon. Gentleman give the House some encouragement in this matter? Will he recognise that roundabouts are about as obsolete as Stonehenge, and will he use every influence he can to ensure that we have as few as possible new roundabouts built in Britain today?
§ Mr. MorrisThat is another question, but I shall bear the hon. Gentleman's observations in mind.
