§ 50. Mr. Gibson-Wattasked the Minister of Transport whether she will refer to the Nationalised Transport Advisory Council the problems of public transport for the inhabitants of Ross-on-Wye travelling from Ross to London via Gloucester by bus and train.
§ Mr. SwinglerNo, Sir. This would not be an appropriate matter for the Council to consider. But my right hon. Friend is looking into the complaints which have been received about the inadequacy of alternative services since the rail service was withdrawn.
§ Mr. Gibson-WattWill the Parliamentary Secretary ask his right hon. Friend to admit that the present situation is unsatisfactory, and will he make arrangements for my constituents, who are at present dropped by bus at the wrong station, to be dropped at Eastgate Street Station in Gloucester?
§ Mr. SwinglerAs the hon. Gentleman knows, this matter arises from a closure to which consent was given before the present Government came into power. My right hon. Friend has power to vary the conditions for alternative services and is prepared to do so if the complaints which are made prove to be justified.
