§ 36. Mr. van Straubenzeeasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer when he expects the Estate Duty Office will be able to clear the estates which are at present held up resulting from the decision of the High Court in re Cameron deceased.
§ Mr. MacDermotThe Estate Duty Office are now dealing with these estates and I hope they will all be cleared shortly.
§ Mr. van StraubenzeeDoes the hon. and learned Gentleman realise how very grateful I am to hear that in view of the very considerable delays that have been caused to estates which could not previously be wound up?
§ Mr. MacDermotI agree with the hon. Gentleman. We are aware of the difficulties and very much regret them. We are trying to clear these cases as quickly as possible.
