HC Deb 28 June 1966 vol 730 cc1576-7
36. Mr. van Straubenzee

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer when he expects the Estate Duty Office will be able to clear the estates which are at present held up resulting from the decision of the High Court in re Cameron deceased.

Mr. MacDermot

The Estate Duty Office are now dealing with these estates and I hope they will all be cleared shortly.

Mr. van Straubenzee

Does the hon. and learned Gentleman realise how very grateful I am to hear that in view of the very considerable delays that have been caused to estates which could not previously be wound up?

Mr. MacDermot

I agree with the hon. Gentleman. We are aware of the difficulties and very much regret them. We are trying to clear these cases as quickly as possible.
