§ 23. Mr. Wylieasked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he will appoint one of the Commissioners of the Scottish Law Commission on a full-time basis in addition to the Chairman of the Commission.
§ Mr. WillisNo, Sir. The Lord Advocate and my right hon. Friend do not think the present arrangements need be changed meantime.
§ Mr. WylieDoes the hon. Gentleman really think that there is adequate provision for coping with the problem of law reform, bearing in mind the wide field of law reform which the Commission is attempting to deal with, as set out in the Report? Is it fair to the very able permanent Chairman of the Commission that so much work should fall on his shoulders?
§ Mr. WillisWe are very much aware of the volume of work falling on this body, and my right hon. Friend and the Lord Advocate intend to keep the matter under review. If the need for a further full-time appointment appears to arise, it will be made.
