HC Deb 27 July 1966 vol 732 c1690
2. Mr. Hamling

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what representations have been made to his Department by the Highland Development Board on the future of Inverliever Lodge.

The Minister of State for Scotland (Mr. George Willis)

The Board has made no formal representations to my Department about Inverliever Lodge.

Mr. Hamling

Would my hon. Friend tell the House what informal representations have been made?

Mr. Willis

I understand that, quite naturally, the Board would like to see the regulations changed to enable the Department of Education and Science to grant-aid youth service projects for English school children, such as adventure schools in Scotland, particularly in the Highlands and Islands, as well as in England and Wales, but it is very conscious that this is really the responsibility of my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Education and Science.
