HC Deb 19 July 1966 vol 732 c362
6. Mr. Iremonger

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government when he will grant loan sanction for the provision of slipper baths at the new Fulwell Cross Swimming Pool, Ilford, in the borough of Redbridge.

The Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (Mr. James MacColl)

My right hon. Friend has told the council that loan sanction for this scheme will be issued as soon as it is in a position to make a formal application for the precise amount required.

Mr. Iremonger

Is the hon. Gentleman aware that the promise was originally given that loan sanction would be forthcoming but that when it was applied for the borough was told that it could not have it? Then, very shortly after this Question was put down, the Ministry changed its mind. Will the hon. Gentleman see in future that it is registered in his Department that this borough is not to be pushed around?

Mr. MacColl

There was a hold-up when there was a restriction on loan sanctions, but it was one of the first to be approved when the list was opened again.
