asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many prison officers have applied for transfer from Blundeston Prison since it has been opened.

Mr. Roy Jenkins

Fourteen officers, including one principal officer, have applied for a transfer since Blundeston Prison opened in May, 1963.

Is this above or below the average in view of the fact that there has been some dissatisfaction with the conditions at the prison since it was opened?

Mr. Jenkins

It does not strikingly diverge from the average.
