Mr. Milneasked the Minister of Labour if he will publish in HANSARD the wage rates laid down by the various wages council Orders affected by the Government's decision as payable in January 1967; and whether further action to raise the minimum rates in these Orders is now proposed by Her Majesty's Government.
§ Mr. GunterI will, with permission, circulate in the OFFICIAL REPORT a list of the relevant Wages Regulation Orders, which will be available in the Library as soon as they have been printed. I have no power to make wages regulation Orders except to give effect to proposals submitted to me by wages councils.
§ Mr. MilneIs my right hon. Friend aware that the wage council rates obtaining in the majority of industries are deplorably low and must not be taken as the definition of "lower-paid worker" when dealing with the question of wage restraint?
