§ 15. Mr. Kitsonasked the President of the Board of Trade how much his Department is charging per square metre for space in the British Pavilion allocated to it at the Poznan Fair; and how this figure was arrived at.
§ Mr. JayThe figure is £13 10s., or about half the cost to the Board of Trade. This comprises £5 for rent, and contributions of £8 towards the cost of shell stands and pavilion treatment and of 10s. towards the cost of a reception.
§ Mr. KitsonCould the right hon. Gentleman say why it is necessary to charge £13 10s. when the Board of Trade gets it for only £5 10s.? Surely that is 1508 not very much encouragement to British exporters?
§ Mr. JayThe Board of Trade is paying only part of the cost and is leaving a part of it to the firms which exhibit. I think that that is not unreasonable.
