§ 5. Mr. Wallasked the Minister of Overseas Development, if she will now make a statement on future Government aid for land resettlement schemes in Kenya.
§ 21. Mr. Peter Millsasked the Minister of Overseas Development what further will be done to help the remaining hard cases among British farmers in Kenya.
§ Mrs. CastleI would refer the hon. Member to my reply of 13th July to which I have nothing to add at present.
§ Mr. WallIs the right hon. Lady aware that, in February, Mr. Stamp said in Kenya that unless something was done about resettlement there would be a 1318 general exodus of European farmers? The continued uncertainty which has existed under both British Governments for the last 18 months has caused great dissatisfaction among European farmers and Africans in Kenya and is damaging the Kenya economy.
§ Mrs. CastleAs I have said before, there is not much point in sending out a mission unless one bases one's decisions on its report. I expect to receive the final report of the mission towards the end of August and on the basis of that report I shall have early discussions with Kenya Ministers.
