§ 38. Mr. John Pageasked the Minister of Labour what is the increase in places available in Government training centres over the last three years; and whether there are at present more applications than there are vacant places.
§ Mr. ThorntonThe places in G.T.Cs. have been increased by 3,155 since December 1962. There are more persons awaiting admission to training than there are vacant places in Government training centres.
§ Mr. PageI thank the hon. Gentleman for that reply, but he has not said whether the waiting list is very substantial or not. I hope he will realise the very strong support which industry wishes to 20 give to people who have been to these training centres, particularly as concerns Scotland.
§ Mr. ThorntonWe shall certainly give the matter very close attention.
