HC Deb 06 December 1965 vol 722 c19
37. Mr. John Page

asked the Minister of Labour what representations he has received from the National Union of Bank Employees about a five-day week for bank employees.

Mr. Gunter

None, Sir.

Mr. Page

If the Minister receives any representations about the cancelling of Saturday working in banks, while remembering the desirability of a five-day working week for bank employees, will he consider the possibility of Monday closing and the staggering of banking hours to allow banks to be open for shopkeepers and others who wish to have them open on Saturdays?

Mr. Gunter

I have received no representations. I think we had better wait until I do.
